Colour is part of our daily life. Every day we make a decision what to wear, how to decorate our house and what colour car we would like to purchase. In painting colour and colour mixing is vital to its success. Learning how to mix colours and create harmonies is fundamental to creating good artworks.
In this painting course we will learn how to approach colour and which colours are essential to be part of our artist’s palette. We will discuss composition and the structure of the painting as well as colour mixing, warm and cool tones and mark making using various brushes. We will be painting various themes such as: landscape, still life, figurative and abstract
Course dates: Thursday evenings from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm, from 17th of August to 21th September 2017

Price: $290 including 6 classes, one canvas to start and studio tools.
This course excludes the materials. You can bring your own paint set acrylic or oils or you can purchase the complete artist qualty acrylic paint from The Art Studio ($110 for 10 colours and large white). Canvases can be purchased at the studio and some brushes and studio tools are provided.
Students will learn:
Week 1 – Introduction to painting – painting genres and styles, various artists to get inspired by, the artist’s palette. Colour testing charts.
Week 2 – Creating harmonies with limited pallet. An insight into colour mixing
Week 3 – landscape painting
Week 4 – Continue landscape painting
Week 5 – painting portraits and figures in abstract expressionist style learn how to use expressive brush marks and daring colours.
Week 6 – complete abstract expressionist portrait or figure.
